One thing is sure: the karts powered by IAME Parilla engines are always in the top positions fighting for victory in the most important International races. And the Super KF World Championship that took place last weekend in Macao is the most important one. Manuel Renaudie (Gillard/Parilla), took a final seventh place due to a sudden change in weather conditions, after a weekend as a protagonist. In the Asia-Pacific Cup, for the KF3 category, Kevin Susilo (DR/Parilla)  faced bad luck in the final, after proving he could battle for the title.

SKF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Let’s start with qualifying: Renaudie was the leading racer. On Saturday the French driver took his Gillard/Parilla kart to fifth place in the first heat. He absolutely dominated the other two heats which were postponed to Sunday, after technicians attempted to re-compact the tarmac on Saturday evening. He finished first and third. The result? Just 8 penalties and an overall third place behind Kozlinski and Vainio (the protagonists of the final). Sauro Cesetti (Birel/Parilla) also made himself be noticed at the top and finished in an excellent final sixth place. Zdenek Groman (Maranello/Parilla), ninth, and Libor Toman (Birel/Parilla), fourteenth, experienced some problems, but were still in it.

In the pre-final Renaudie’s rivals knew he was the best starter. In fact, the Frenchman immediately took the lead on the first lap; then he lost a position and battled in the front for more than half of the race. He eventually finished in fifth place, which considering his blistering starts, it is worth a pole position. Cesetti was there at the front and had the rhythm and experience to do well, but he had to say goodbye to his position on the second lap, when, after a contact, he ended up at the back of the field (he finished 21st). The 13th position of Groman is worth a note, as the 15th place of Jason Parrott (Birel/Parilla), the 22nd place of Miika Kunranta (Birel/Parilla) and 23rd of Libor Toman .

All happened after the 18th lap: after just a few laps the rain decided to become the main protagonist and upset the expectations. Renaudie, as usual, was able to beat all the competitors at the start, powered by his Parilla engine. He led for a few laps until the rain ruined his plans, causing him to slip back to eighth place. He was seventh when, 5 laps before the end of the race, he got stopped by the rain: “I’m not happy”, said the French driver, “we were not prepared for these weather and track conditions. In normal conditions we were really quick”. As a matter of fact, Manuel Renaudie showed that in the dry he could have won. Another protagonist of the day was Libor Toman who, after starting from 23rd place, climbed through the field to tenth place in just a few laps. He then had to retire due to technical problem on the seventh lap. Cesetti had to fight for space at the back of the field and finally managed to take 14th place: if it wasn’t for that contact in the pre-final, he would surely have been amongst the top drivers. Kunranta finished behind Cesetti recording lap times close to the leaders one.

KF3 ASIA-PACIFIC CUP

Not many participants (many of the seasons protagonists were missing, such as Nyck De Vries), but very spectacular. Spectacular thanks to the weekend of Kevin Susilo (DR/Parilla) who finished qualifying in an overall second position and fonished the pre-final in fourth (but always very close to the leaders). In the final, when he was battling for a podium place, he was forced to retire due to a technical problem. He is young and will surely have many other opportunities.
