L’AFRICA ECO RACE EST À DAKHLA

Cette dernière étape sur le sol marocain de l’AFRICA ECO RACE s’est déroulée à vitesse expresse puisque les 404 km du secteur sélectif ont été effectués en 03:31:53 en moto et 03:31:53 en auto. Un temps identique à la seconde près ! Du rarement vu dans l’histoire des Rallyes Tout Terrain. Cela est certainement dû au fait que depuis cette année, les autos, SSV et camions sont tous neutralisés 20 minutes, comme les motos. Une belle coïncidence tout de même qui méritait d’être soulignée.

En Moto, on prend les trois mêmes et on recommence. Cette fois, l’affrontement entre l’APRILIA de Jacopo CERUTTI et les deux YAMAHA de Pol TARRES et Alessandro BOTTURI, a tourné en faveur de ce dernier. L’italien s’impose avec 00:01:57 d’avance sur son co-équipier et 00:03:57 sur CERUTTI. Autant dire que les trois pilotes ont franchi la ligne d’arrivée ensembles, pour la troisième fois consécutive.

Impossible donc de les départager vraiment au Maroc puisque CERRUTI, leader depuis le premier jour, dispose de 00:03:15 sur BOTTURI et 30 secondes supplémentaires sur TARRES.

Cette situation pourrait vite évoluer en Mauritanie tant le terrain sera sélectif.

Derrière, au guidon de sa KTM, le Suisse Alexandre VAUDAN a bien redressé la barre après son erreur de navigation d’hier. Il termine 4ème à seulement 00:10:50 du vainqueur et devance l’APRILIA de l’Italien Francesco MONTANARI de 00:14:46 et le Français Atilio FERT de 00:15:46 sur KTM.

Chez les MOTUL XTREME RIDER, la victoire du jour revient au sympathique pilote français Nicolas BOTTU sur KTM alors que l’Italien Stefano CHIUSSI à encore accentuer son avance sur le Français Antoine DETOURBET, tous deux sur HUSQVARNA.

Sur quatre roues, le Belge Koen WAUTERS avait promis ce matin de tout donner pour s’imposer puisque cette 5ème étape de l’AFRICA ECO RACE constituait pour lui la fin de course. En effet, ce concurrent est également un chanteur à succès en Belgique Flamande et au Pays Bas et il commence une série de concerts le 11 janvier. Il doit donc impérativement rentrer en Belgique pour deux jours de répétitions. Koen WAUTERS a tenu parole puisqu’au volant de son Pick-Up TOYOTA, parfaitement navigué par Kris VEN DER STEEN, il s’est imposé avec 00:02:46 d’avance sur les Hongrois Imre VARGA et Jozsef TOMA, également sur TOYOTA. En 3ème position, on retrouve le premier SSV avec le CAN AM de Carlos VENTO et Carlos RUIZ MORENO, tout de même à plus de 8 minutes et avec 13 secondes d’avance sur Pierre-Louis LOUBET et François BORSOTTO. Un écart logique sur ce type de terrain qui privilégie la vitesse puisque les SSV sont limités à 130 km/h maximum et que les autos peuvent atteindre 170 km/h.

La 3ème place au scratch revient au TOYOTA des Belges Pascal FEYRIN et Kurt KEYSERS alors que le 3ème SSV est le CAN AM des Portugais Ricardo SOUSA et Jorge BRANDAO. La 3ème auto du jour est le TOYOTA des Hollandais Teun STAM et Rene BRARGEMAN, par ailleurs 1er en T1 Diesel.

Au général provisoire, sur leur APACHE, les Français Gautier PAULIN et Remi BOULANGER mènent la course avec 02:09:39 d’avance sur le POLARIS de leurs compatriotes Frédéric HENRICY et Eric BERSEY alors que Carlos VENTO et Carlos RUIZ MORENO pointent à 02:36:01.

Chez les camions, nouvelle victoire aujourd’hui pour le TATRA du Tchèque Tomas TOMECEK pour un peu moins de 4 minutes sur le SCANIA de Aad VAN VELSEN, Michel VAN VELSEN et Marco SIEMONS. Le GINAF des Belges Cedric FEYRIN, Bjorn BURGELMAN et Tom DE LEEUW termine 3ème des mastodontes du désert, une place qu’ils occupent également au général provisoire camion derrière le leader TOMECEK et son dauphin VAN VELSEN.

Dans la course Classic, après les 4 Zones de Régularité du jour de respectivement 30 km, 31 km, 40 km et 51 km, en sortant du Maroc avec 15 ZR effectuées, les Belges Eric et Tom CLAEYS sont en tête sur leur TOYOTA Land Cruiser BJ73. Ils devancent leurs compatriotes

Rene DECLERCQ et John DEMEESTER sur un BOMBARDIER Iltis alors que le MITSUBISHI PAJERO de l’Autrichien Peter BRABECK-LETMATHE et du Français Jean-Michel GAYTE est en 3ème position. Mais les classements sont très serrés, les équipages se battent à coup de score vierge et il ne reste pas moins de 12 ZR sur le terrain très compliqué de Mauritanie pour faire la différence. Rien n’est donc joué !

Dimanche 7 janvier, les participants de cette 15ème édition de l’AFRICA ECO RACE pourront se ressourcer et réviser leurs véhicules sur le bivouac de Dakhla installé au bord de la lagune. Une pause nécessaire avant la seconde semaine de course en Mauritanie.

THE AFRICA ECO RACE IS IN DAKHLA

This final stage of the AFRICA ECO RACE on Moroccan soil was completed at lightning speed, with the 404km selective sector completed in 03:31:53 for the bike and 03:31:53 for the car. In motorcycling, we take the same three and start again. This time, the battle between Jacopo CERUTTI’s APRILIA and the two YAMAHAs of Pol TARRES and Alessandro BOTTURI went in favour of the latter. The Italian won with a lead of 00:01:57 over his team-mate and 00:03:57 over CERUTTI. In other words, the three riders crossed the finish line together for the third time in a row.

It is therefore impossible to really separate them in Morocco because CERRUTI, leader since day one, has 00:03:15 over BOTTURI and a further 30 seconds over TARRES.

This situation could quickly change in Mauritania, as the terrain will be so selective.

Behind, on his KTM, Swiss rider Alexandre VAUDAN has put things right, after his navigation error yesterday. He finished 4th, just 00:10:50 behind the winner, ahead of the APRILIA of Italian Francesco MONTANARI by 00:14:46 and Frenchman Atilio FERT on a KTM by 00:15:46. In the MOTUL XTREME RIDER class, victory of the day went to the likeable French rider Nicolas BOTTU on KTM, while Italian Stefano CHIUSSI extended his lead over Frenchman Antoine DETOURBET, both on HUSQVARNA.

On four wheels, Belgian rider Koen WAUTERS had promised this morning to give his all to win, as this 5th stage of the AFRICA ECO RACE was the end of the road for him. This competitor is also a successful singer in Belgium and the Netherlands, and he begins a series of concerts on January 11th. He therefore had to return to Belgium for two days of rehearsals. Koen WAUTERS kept his word: at the wheel of his TOYOTA Pick-Up, perfectly navigated by Kris VEN DER STEEN, he won with a lead of 00:02:46 over the Hungarians Imre VARGA and Jozsef TOMA, also on a TOYOTA.

In 3rd place, we find the first SSV with the CAN AM of Carlos VENTO and Carlos RUIZ MORENO, still more than 8 minutes and 13 seconds ahead of Pierre-Louis LOUBET and François BORSOTTO. A logical gap on this type of terrain, which favours speed, since SSVs are limited to a maximum of 130 km/h, while cars can reach 170 km/h. 3rd place overall went to the TOYOTA of Belgian drivers Pascal FEYRIN and Kurt KEYSERS, while the 3rd place SSV was the CAN AM of Portuguese drivers Ricardo SOUSA and Jorge BRANDAO. The 3rd car of the day was the TOYOTA of Dutchmen Teun STAM and Rene BRARGEMAN, who were also 1st in T1 Diesel.

In the provisional overall standings, Frenchmen Gautier PAULIN and Remi BOULANGER are leading the race in their APACHE with a lead of 02:09:39 over the POLARIS of their compatriots Frédéric HENRICY and Eric BERSEY, while Carlos VENTO and Carlos RUIZ MORENO are at 02:36:01.

In the truck category, another victory today for the TATRA of Czech Tomas TOMECEK by just under 4 minutes over the SCANIA of Aad VAN VELSEN, Michel VAN VELSEN and Marco SIEMONS. The GINAF of the Belgians Cedric FEYRIN, Bjorn BURGELMAN and Tom DE LEEUW finished 3rd in the desert behemoths, a position they also occupied in the provisional overall truck standings behind leader TOMECEK and runner-up VAN VELSEN.

In the Classic race, after the day’s 4 Regularity Zones of 30 km, 31 km, 40 km and 51 km respectively, leaving Morocco with 15 ZRs completed, Belgians Eric and Tom CLAEYS are in the lead in their TOYOTA Land Cruiser BJ73. They are ahead of their compatriots.

Rene DECLERCQ and John DEMEESTER in a BOMBARDIER Iltis, while the MITSUBISHI PAJERO of Austrian Peter BRABECK-LETMATHE and Frenchman Jean-Michel GAYTE is in 3rd place. But the rankings are very tight, with crews fighting it out with a score of zero points and no less than 12 ZRs left on the very complicated Mauritanian terrain to make the difference. So nothing is decided yet!

Sunday 7 January, the participants in this 15th edition of the AFRICA ECO RACE will be able to recharge their batteries and overhaul their vehicles at the Dakhla bivouac set up on the edge of the lagoon. A much-needed break before the second week of the race in Mauritania.

L’AFRICA ECO RACE È A DAKHLA

Quest’ultima tappa su suolo marocchino dell’AFRICA ECO RACE si è svolta a velocità express, poiché i 404 km del settore selettivo sono stati completati in 03:31:53 sia in moto che in auto. Un tempo identico al secondo! Qualcosa di raramente visto nella storia dei Rally Tout Terrain. Questo è sicuramente dovuto al fatto che da quest’anno le auto, gli SSV e i camion sono tutti neutralizzati per 20 minuti, come le moto. Una bella coincidenza comunque degna di nota.

In moto, si ripete la stessa situazione. Questa volta, il confronto tra l’APRILIA di Jacopo CERUTTI e le due YAMAHA di Pol TARRES e Alessandro BOTTURI si è concluso a favore di quest’ultimo. L’italiano vince con un vantaggio di 00:01:57 sul suo compagno di squadra e 00:03:57 su CERUTTI. In altre parole, i tre piloti hanno attraversato insieme la linea di arrivo per la terza volta consecutiva.

Impossibile quindi separarli realmente in Marocco poiché CERRUTI, leader fin dal primo giorno, ha un vantaggio di 00:03:15 su BOTTURI e 30 secondi in più su TARRES.

Questa situazione potrebbe cambiare rapidamente in Mauritania, dato che il terreno diventerà più selettivo.

Dietro di loro, alla guida della sua KTM, lo svizzero Alexandre VAUDAN ha rimediato bene dopo il suo errore di navigazione di ieri. Termina al 4º posto a soli 00:10:50 dal vincitore e precede l’APRILIA dell’italiano Francesco MONTANARI di 00:14:46 e il francese Atilio FERT di 00:15:46 su KTM. Nella categoria MOTUL XTREME RIDER, la vittoria del giorno va al simpatico pilota francese Nicolas BOTTU su KTM, mentre l’italiano Stefano CHIUSSI ha ulteriormente incrementato il suo vantaggio sul francese Antoine DETOURBET, entrambi su HUSQVARNA.

Tra le quattro ruote, il belga Koen WAUTERS aveva promesso stamattina di dare tutto per vincere poiché questa 5ª tappa dell’AFRICA ECO RACE rappresentava per lui la fine della gara. Infatti, questo concorrente è anche un cantante di successo in Belgio fiammingo e nei Paesi Bassi, e inizia una serie di concerti l’11 gennaio. Deve quindi rientrare assolutamente in Belgio per due giorni di prove. Koen WAUTERS ha mantenuto la promessa poiché al volante del suo Pick-Up TOYOTA, perfettamente navigato da Kris VEN DER STEEN, ha vinto con 00:02:46 di vantaggio sugli ungheresi Imre VARGA e Jozsef TOMA, anch’essi su TOYOTA. Al 3º posto si trova il primo SSV con il CAN AM di Carlos VENTO e Carlos RUIZ MORENO, comunque a oltre 8 minuti e con 13 secondi di vantaggio su Pierre-Louis LOUBET e François BORSOTTO. Un divario logico su questo tipo di terreno che favorisce la velocità, dato che gli SSV sono limitati a 130 km/h e le auto possono raggiungere i 170 km/h.

Il 3º posto assoluto è del TOYOTA dei belgi Pascal FEYRIN e Kurt KEYSERS, mentre il 3º SSV è il CAN AM dei portoghesi Ricardo SOUSA e Jorge BRANDAO. La 3ª auto del giorno è il TOYOTA degli olandesi Teun STAM e Rene BRARGEMAN, che sono anche 1º in T1 Diesel. In classifica generale provvisoria, sulla loro APACHE, i francesi Gautier PAULIN e Remi BOULANGER conducono la gara con un vantaggio di 02:09:39 sui connazionali Frédéric HENRICY ed Eric BERSEY su POLARIS, mentre Carlos VENTO e Carlos RUIZ MORENO sono terzi a 02:36:01.

Tra i camion, nuova vittoria oggi per il TATRA del ceco Tomas TOMECEK, per poco meno di 4 minuti sul SCANIA di Aad VAN VELSEN, Michel VAN VELSEN e Marco SIEMONS. Il GINAF dei belgi Cedric FEYRIN, Bjorn BURGELMAN e Tom DE LEEUW si piazza al 3º posto tra i mastodonti del deserto, una posizione che occupano anche nella classifica generale provvisoria dei camion dietro al leader TOMECEK e al suo secondo VAN VELSEN.

Nella gara Classic, dopo le 4 Zone di Regolarità del giorno di rispettivamente 30 km, 31 km, 40 km e 51 km, uscendo dal Marocco con 15 ZR completate, i belgi Eric e Tom CLAEYS sono in testa sulla loro TOYOTA Land Cruiser BJ73. Precedono i connazionali Rene DECLERCQ e John DEMEESTER su un BOMBARDIER Iltis, mentre il MITSUBISHI PAJERO dell’austriaco Peter BRABECK-LETMATHE e del francese Jean-Michel GAYTE è al 3º posto. Ma le classifiche sono molto combattute, gli equipaggi si stanno battendo con punteggi perfetti e rimangono ben 12 ZR sul terreno molto complicato della Mauritania per fare la differenza. Quindi, nulla è ancora deciso!

Domenica 7 gennaio, i partecipanti a questa 15ª edizione dell’AFRICA ECO RACE potranno ricaricarsi e fare le revisioni ai loro veicoli nel bivacco di Dakhla situato sulle rive della laguna. Una pausa necessaria prima della seconda settimana di gara in Mauritania.”
